CUPS Alternative

After trying CUPS to put my HP Officejet 4315 to work, I get as far as to print a test  page but that is all I can do, it won't print with any other application, kind of tired of CUPS already, I would like to know if there are any other alternatives to CUPS because it sure is a pain to get it to work.
