I believe 'portdowngrade' is the canonical way. However, I *always*
have trouble with the servers for some reason.
Last time I did a portdowngrade I used the following (mind the wrap):
portdowngrade -o
-s:pserver:anoncvs at anoncvs.at.FreeBSD.org:/home/ncvs <port-name>
Then enter any password.
