It's most likely because you (or someone masquerading as you, ie
startkde) is using a default startx setup:
gcooper at sprsd /usr/X11R6 $ grep -r nolisten *
#snip
X11R6/bin/startx:defaultserverargs="-nolisten tcp -br"
