My server went down unexpectedly yesterday (seems like the powergrid had
some stability issues as I noticed the lights dimming on several
occasions), and consequently my filesystems weren't cleanly unmounted.

dmesg told me:

WARNING: / was not properly dismounted
WARNING: /tmp was not properly dismounted
WARNING: /usr was not properly dismounted
WARNING: /var was not properly dismounted
/var: mount pending error: blocks 4 files 1
WARNING: /mnt/data1 was not properly dismounted
WARNING: /mnt/data2 was not properly dismounted

It seems to have taken care of everything, I'm using FreeBSD 5.4. Hope
this helps.
