"make" with proxy

Hi !
In my network, on the gateway the www port is blocked but a squid server 
is enabled on port 88, so when I try to "make" a program, the sources 
cannot be downloaded. Can I do something to determine "make" to download 
the sources using the proxy ? And if I can, how is that ?
