Big delay between login as: and Password:

Hello :)

For some strange reason, this morning the delay disappeared!

I am trying to connect to this server from the workstation
behind it. It's in my attic, a few meters above my head.

No X, but I am running tons of daemons on it.
Web, mail, FTP, SSH and all that.
