how to recover (at least part of) a deleted file?

And in case it matters, what happened was

I mv'ed the file to a different name and created a new log file.

ie

% mv access_log access_log.20050309; touch access_log

I restarted apache

I then accidently  did the move again so it replaced my previous saved 
copy with a new smaller one.
