smbclient + tar

Hi all.

I use smbclient in conjunction with tar

/usr/local/bin/smbclient -d0 //$winpc/$share \
$password -Tc $backupdir/$backupfile $windir &&

 to back up work from my Windows PC. I noticed that tar skipped files. If
anyone used it, how reliable is it? Also if there are any suggestions to
backup stuff from Windows to FreeBSD, they are welcome.
