filesize limit on removable media?

Hello list

With cdrtools-devel and growisofs I can master a data dvd with a filesize of
larger than 2GB (this particular file is about 4.3GB) and burn it but if I try
to mount the dvd and look at it, dd will see it but nothing else does. I can
stick the dvd in a windows box [cough] and I can see it!

Is this a freebsd thing or an iso9660 thing?
