mountmsdosfs(): disk too big still a problem?

What is "not really"? I never had problems with writing to an NTFS 
partition with FreeBSD as long as I don't use special features of NTFS; 
just creating and deleting files and directories. I think it's good 
enough for temporary data that is dispensable.
