dhclient stops trying to get a new lease

That's set in dhclient.leases, in the expire setting. Look in 
	man dhclient.leases
In my case, expire is set by my ISP, as part of the lease. You may be
able to set it a century into the future by setting up a permanent
lease. I've never tried it, so I don't know.
