Please don't change Beastie to another crap logo such as NetBSD!!!

Seems to me there could be two separate and not necessarily
related issues here.
1) Having a contest for a new logo.
2) Adopting the contest winner as the new logo.

The occurrence of (1) does not mandate the occurrence of (2).
