Gert,

The best way of doing this is to use  "rm 
-r /usr/ports/distfiles/mplayer", then install mplayer-skins, or 
portupgrade, or whatever you decide to use; this allows you to download 
fresh versions of the skins with the correct file size and the correct 
MD5 checksum.
