can't make iso image

Hi, 
  I want to make ISO image in order to burn a CD, but
both mkisofs and vcdimager failed to do so, mkisofs
reported as: 
>>mkisofs: Input/output error. cannot read from
foo.mpg
while vcdimager said: 
>>**ERROR: fread (): Input/output error
but other files have no problem making ISO by the 2
apps. 


This is on freebsd/i386, 5.4pre-release.
