Problems with the ports collection

I found this on a list and it works for me.

portsdb/ruby issue with 5.2.1 (and may also work with 4.10)
(Install portindex - /usr/ports/sysutils/portindex)

cvsup your ports tree
cd /usr/ports && make index
/usr/local/bin/portindex  (this will take some time the first run but 
then it'll be much faster)
/usr/local/bin/portindexdb
pkgdb -afuF (or whatever you use for parms)
portversion -vL=
portupgrade -a (or whatever you use for parms)
