Just as a follow-up, I'm now running a GeForce2 MX400 with the nvidia drivers port on 5.3 and it just works. Plenty quick enough for now. So whoever it is that was wondering about whether or not the nvidia drivers work on 5.3: "yes, they work well." -- GDB has a 'break' feature; why doesn't it have 'fix' too?
