`make`ing kernel for 4.5 with nonnative cc

Preamble:

Some time ago I've `configure && make && make install`-ed gcc-3.2.1, while 4.5
box has cc 2.95 (AFAIK).


Issue:

Is the _only_ solve to get gcc-2.95 to be on the box?
