X11 keyboard maps

hello all,

while researching keyboard languange mapping, i came across a command which
would present the current layout graphically - keys overlayed with symbols.
unfortunately, i neglected to bookmark the page.

i recall that the image was created was in ps format and was piped into gv
for viewing.  i have looked all over trying to find a way to do this, but
haven't yet had any luck.  if anyone knows how to do this, could you please
let me know?
