pkg_delete multimedia/mplayer doesn't work

Try
# cd /var/db/pkg
# pkg_delete mplayer* 

If you want to force deletion of the package use the command 
# pkg_delete -f mplayer*
instead of 
# pkg_delete mplayer* 

If it's still not deinstalling enter the command
# ls -l /var/db/pkg/mplayer*
If it doesnt return somthing like
'/var/db/pkg/mplayer-gtk-esound........'
no mplayer package has been registered on your system.
