How can I type cyrillic with FreeBSD?

Hi,

There is an article on using cyrillic/burgarian fonts:

but as far as I understand, this is only about how to display
the cyrillic font.

Is there also a way that I can *type* cyrillic/bulgarian
with FreeBSD?

I'm runing FreeBSD Stable.
