Hi,
   I hope this would work for you.. I have recently
installed my printer and be able to print successfully
using CUPS and gimp-print drivers.

What I did was:

1. Install the latest cups printing daemon and
gimp-print or whatever port you will need to drive
your printer(I don't know if you still need those
drivers though) "some printers doesn't need one"
In my case I've installed cups-base-1.1.20.0

2. cd to /usr/local/etc/rc.d then
 'cp cups.sh.sample cups.sh'

3. execute 'cups.sh start'(also, the next time you
boot, you will see that cups daemon will automatically
be started)

4. go to http://localhost:631/admin then try the web
interface configuration of cups.

That's it!
Goodluck
