MIDI on the PCM driver? Does it work?

Hello all,

 I was working on writing some software (to be released on freshmeat) that
controls some midrange Behringer audio processing units via MIDI.

 However, on my system the /dev/midi0 and /dev/sequencer0 cannot be
opened, as if they don't work.

 Does the PCM driver work with MIDI output? Not in the sense of a software
synth, but actual physical midi communication out of the game port
connected UART?
