Can't type ^ and ~ in Linux-OpenOffice

Hi!

I just installed Linux-OpenOffice binaries on -CURRENT
(I know there is a FreeBSD-port, but it needs some patience :-)
).

Everything seems to work pretty well - only I can't type ^ and ~
- I am using a german keyboard.

Any ideas what could be done?
