I don't use linux compat on 5.X, but it looks like your installation is
broken. See if you can find any tips in the handbook:

http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/linuxemu.html

Note it includes a Matlab section, which is known to work on 4.X.
