virtual pcm mixing

Howdy list,

Does anyone know if it's possible to mix virtual
PCM devices? (i.e. /dev/dsp0.1, /dev/dsp0.2, etc...)

I'm trying to run XMMS at a different volume level
than my KDE SFX volume level. XMMS is using /dev/dsp0.2
and KDE is using /dev/dsp0.3.
