help with changing password's

i just did a make world of current as of today and when i try to change my 
password for root or my user acc i get:

lucifer# passwd
Passwd: can't change little green men's password's (0x3dd)
lucifer#
was wundering if that's due to because im using UFS2 something new with 
current or my passwd db is messed up ?
