Dead keyboards after boot with no keyboard

Look in your kernel config file. There should be a line reading:
device atkbd0 at atkbdc? irq 1 flags 0x1
remove the "flags 0x1" part and recompile your kernel. After reboot the
atkbd driver will install even if there's no keyboard attached.
