Just as a basic test, could you try changing MAXCPU to your CPU count?  MAXCPU
is 256 by default, but if you only have, say, 4 or 8 cores, cutting back to
that might lower the memory usage.  If it boots with a smaller MAXCPU, it is
likely a memory bounds issue.
