IIRC, I just copied from the CD while I was in Mac OS. Putting the CD
in another machine and copying it out there would also work, but then
you need a way to transfer the file to your Mac (network or usb stick?)

If you are installing from Cd, why do you need target mode? Target mode
is a way to make a (supported) Mac behave as an external (firewire)
disk.
