What machine(s) is the PPC iso suposed to boot on?

  When you repartition, the safest bet is to use UFS for the FreeBSD 
ones. Not that OSX can read FreeBSD's UFS (or vice-versa), but this 
allows FreeBSD to recognise those partitions as being usable.
