libsync.h is part of graphics/libdrm. I did adjust BUILD_DEPENDS, so the
build would abort if you don't.

Do you have a reason to avoid update? As maintainer didn't test on Tier2
FREEDRENO/VC4 on Mesa 17.0.4 cannot be more stable than on Mesa 17.1.0.
2017Q2 still has 13.0.6 and only SWRAST on arm* and aarch64.
