The port in Gnome that monitors directories is devel/gamin. It is NOT
dependent on the installation of gnome. It has a fairly short list of
dependencies, none X related in any way:
    pcre-8.34
    icu-52.1
    glib-2.36.3_2
    gettext-0.18.3.1
    python27-2.7.6_4
    perl5-5.16.3_7
    libffi-3.0.13_1
