Emacs core dumps when opening file dialog

Hi,

Emacs 23.4.1 core dumps on FreeBSD 9-stable when trying to open a file:

...
Fatal error (11)Segmentation fault (core dumped)
...

Emacs starts ok and seems to run fine until using the "Open file" 
dialog. There are no other error messages and Emacs is the only gtk 
application that does this.

Does anyone know what's the problem here?
