Missing libproxy.la?

Hi all,

I read UPDATING and did a:
   # portupgrade -rf libnotify-0.\* libproxy-0.\*

and this mostly succeeded except where it failed. In particular 
x11/gnome-panel complains:
   CCLD   clock-applet
gnome-libtool: link: cannot find the library 
`/usr/local/lib/libproxy.la' or unhandled argument 
`/usr/local/lib/libproxy.la'

This leaves me with a slightly unusable system. Reinstalling libproxy 
still does not resolve the problem. How can I make this work again?
