x11/libX11 and libSM stop my upgrading both xorg and kde on 7.3 Stable.

Looks like your auto tools are out of date. Upgrade these first:
autoconfig-*
automake-*

And in the case of KDE:
automoc4-* # after the other auto tools.

And just in case:
libltdl-*
libtool-*
