editors/nedit font weirdness

I haven't upgraded yet to the new Xorg, and given all the problems
I've seen recently, I don't have any plans to in the near future.
I suspect this is probably somehow related to that, but I don't
really know other than I don't see this problem on any of my
systems with earlier Xorg ports.
