I'm the port maintainer.
I don't quite understand INDEX -- meaning I don't understand if
there's something we're supposed to edit to add an entry or what. As
far as I know, it's automatically generated?
FWIW, I can confirm it doesn't exist in INDEX:
eos# pkg_version -v | grep rrdtool
rrdtool-1.2.28 = up-to-date with port
eos# grep -i ^rrdtool12 /usr/ports/INDEX-6
