Greetings!

I have a samba3 installation acting as a domain member server, which
is joined to a samba3 PDC on the same subnet.

If I attempt to restart samba with /usr/local/etc/rc.d/samba restart,
I get the following when I attempt to browse it:

acc at dms:~% sudo /usr/local/etc/rc.d/samba restart
Stopping nmbd.
Starting SAMBA: removing stale tdbs :
/var/db/samba/connections.tdb
/var/db/samba/messages.tdb
/var/db/samba/sessionid.tdb
/var/db/samba/unexpected.tdb
/var/db/samba/brlock.tdb
/var/db/samba/locking.tdb
Starting nmbd.
Stopping smbd.

acc at dms:~% smbclient -L localhost
Password:
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS

However, the following command,

acc at dms:~% sudo /usr/local/etc/rc.d/samba stop; sudo /usr/local/etc/rc.d/samba start

results in a successful browse, surprisingly.

My environment (both machines are identical, software-wise):
