apache 1.3 and session

im trying to run a number of different php scripts and i keep getting 
Undefined variable: _SESSION

i have unistalled apache and reinstalled it.to no avail
what am i missing here ?

and i have serched the web and all the info i  can find say apache is built with sessions enabled , and also phpinfo();
dosnt show session http://www.vampextream.com/phpinfo.php
