Huge MLINKS: Argument list too long

Sigh. I just shot myself in the foot:

cdk at menelaos [11:32:51]> sudo make package
/bin/sh:Argument list too long
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/devel/cdk.
cdk at menelaos [11:32:56]> make -V MLINKS | wc -w
    1640

Any solutions apart from symlinking them myself in pkg-install/plist?
