I can't speak for the original poster but, as someone who's
more interested in the window shopping part, this doesn't solve my
problem within the status quo.
	If I'm looking for (let's say) a replacement mail-reader,
gnawing through 480+ ports is not a win. Given my limited knowledge
of the ports build internals, adding a new layer to the directory
structure, e.g. mail/servers, mail/clients, mail/utilities, and
mail/misc, seems much less painful than editing 12,000 Makefiles.
