any reason ports/xmlwrapp-0.4.4 depends on python-2.3.3_1?

The xmlwrapp is completely independent of
python. Is there any reason the pkg has
such dependency?

I'm have difficulty to install current version
of xmlwrapp, since it depends on python-2.3.3_1,
and my python can't be upgraded to this new version
due to an older version of python required by
other pkgs.

It will be great if this unnessary dependency 
can be removed.
