Nope. This script doesn't detect my problem:
root at fog[26]# sysctl kern.openfiles
kern.openfiles: 106
root at fog[27]# ./a.out
root at fog[28]# sysctl kern.openfiles
kern.openfiles: 106
root at fog[29]#
