If this is FreeBSD 4.7 or earlier, you need to edit
/usr/ports/Mk/bsd.port.mk, and remove the line that says:

FETCH_BEFORE_ARGS+=    $${CKSIZE:+-S $$CKSIZE}

This will be fixed in a more permanent fashion shortly.
