octave-2.1.50_1 in stable

The octave port in stable doesn't load under emacs' octave-mode. Both emacs 21 and 20 hang after "Esc-x octave-mode", and  evaluation of a line for example "Ctrl-c i l". 

Another strange thing is that octave enters an infinite loop printing the prompt when exiting with "Ctrl-D" instead of the exit command.

None of these problems are present in the old octave-2.1.30 package.
