Ah, WANT_KDE_FINAL. That option probably should carry a big "NOT SUPPORTED" 
warning (although not many others besides you have ever found it before). You 
might want to file a bug report about it at http://bugs.kde.org about this 
though (KDE folks still try to support it, but as you just experienced, with 
less then optimal results. It's been disabled on our package builder for some 
time now because we'd rather spend the time on porting instead of chasing 
obscure bugs in automake templates).

After you've filed the bug, tell me the bugnumber and I'll confirm it (just 
reproduced it in a jail here).
