games/quakeserver broken because of unregistered user

I went looking for a Quake server to install, and found quakeserver, though
it's marked as ignore because of an "unregistered user". This seems like a
perfectly silly (and perfectly bento -- erm, pointyhat -- derived) reason to
break a port when very little effort would fix it[1]. What would it take to
register this user? Aside from tenebrae, which gives me signal {10,11} when I
try to start a new game, this appears to be the only way to run single-user
Quake under FreeBSD, so I'd like to preserve it.

[1]: And it's marked for removal, to boot! Sigh.

I abhor a system designed for the "user", if that word is a coded
pejorative meaning "stupid and unsophisticated". -- Ken Thompson

Unix is user friendly. However, it isn't idiot friendly.
