did you made a portupgrade for perl ?
the "No such file or directory" came up for me once i upgraded the perl
port. open /usr/local/bin/automake with your favorite eitor and take a
look in the first line. this line contains the full path and name of the
perl executable. unfortunately the version number is also appended.

run 'portupgrade -f automake-1.5*' and try again.

Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (FreeBSD)
