autoconf version problem

	Hello,

I want to port to FreeBSD some ftpd. It requeres autoconf version 2.53. 
I have a such lines in the Makefile: 

USE_AUTOCONF=   yes
USE_AUTOCONF_VER?=253

But when I run "make", it tries to use autoconf213:
===>   wzdftpd-0.1 depends on file: /usr/local/libexec/autoconf213/autoconf - found

What's wrong?
