yet another mod_php4 problem :-(

interesting theory; I did have IMAP... I rebuilt PHP with no options,
and got it installed fine. 

It's a slow day at work today, so I have time to try uninstalling and
reinstalling a few times with various options selected and report back.

I have the same problem :
I'm sure that you select Imap in php4. It seems that there is a problem
with 
cclient.
